Star Gazing

The light has had its fill

It takes its leave to the west, in comes the night shift

From its bed its head it lift, peeping over the hills

Perfectly round, or ‘half’ awake, its face over powering the shape of trees

Leading there after an army of twinkle

Shooting across the sky, slowly, in an instant

Spread across the sky, like an army marching to battle

Holding up their torches announcing their approach

make your wish, but don’t spill it

Might come true, too numerous to count

They rule the night sky, looking down on us

Lending us their magnificence without a fuss

Now I have looked up, why look down?

When something so beautiful is shown

Canvas of images formed by artistic lights

It tells a story, it holds our history, what a sight
